I don't think there is anything you can say to test his love for you. He has demonstrated his willingness to deceive you, and I don't think saying "Sorry" cancels that out. Your instinctive reaction will be most strongly triggered by what he does, not what he says. Listen to your instincts and cut your losses. To carry on as you are, is to invite more of the same from him.
