Who was significant in the building of America?

For American history I need to write a page about who was important in the building of America. I'm not asking for you to do my ignment but I'm really confused about American history so I just need a quick overview about who of the signers of the constitution made a significant contribution to America becoming a nation... Even a simple name will help a lot =)
