Why won't my Emule work?!?

whatever i tell it to download it just keeps saying "status: waiting" and the download never stops. i checked my firewall and it keeps saying the its not blocking. it also says its not blocking m ares (another software) but ares is working either - but thats another question so u dont have to answer that.
