What do you think about the Roman Catholic Church?

I once became an atheist because of it, but now I'm a non-denominational Christian. Based on what I went through, I'd have to say Roman Catholicism keeps people from God. Its a pile of non-biblical rules as far as I am concerned. What is the purpose of obeying rules made by men and not being able to have a personal relationship with God?
