Where is somewhere to live that is warm but near snowboarding?

My bf wants to live somewhere where he can snowboard at a really good resort. I want to live somewhere where the weather is relatively nice and warm year round. Is there any place someone can recommend on the west coast that fits these credentials? I love California but the cost of living is too high for us....so preferably not in Cali.
